Directed by Larry Clark, Wassup Rockers follows a group of Latino teens from South Central Los Angeles who reject gang culture in favor of punk music and skateboarding. When they venture into Beverly Hills, a day of skating turns chaotic as they clash with the privileged, white upper class. Blurring fiction and reality, Clark casts real skaters to capture the rawness of youth on the fringes. The film explores themes of identity, alienation, and cultural tension while spotlighting a subculture rarely seen on screen. It’s a gritty, kinetic, and sometimes surreal look at race, rebellion, and teen identity in L.A.
